A&D Art Deco Room Divider Folding Screen “Snow Queen” (Snedronningen)
1.900,00 €
The sections of the Room Divider Folding Screen are connected by handmade hinges of our own design. These hinges provide unrivaled stability, reliability and the ability to fold the sections in any direction.
Manufacturing material – birch (plywood) of the highest grade. Color – ivory. Processing – linseed oil, mother-of-pearl, Pebeo stained glass paints, unbreakable polycarbonate glass. The color of stained glass is always different. After that, we spent two whole days discussing what to do with the pattern cut out on the wood. We wanted to somehow emphasize it and decided to use paint with a “metallic” effect. Someone might want gold on white, but for the first piece we had chosen the color of tin. The cold silver shade adds frosty freshness to our Snow Queen. But upon request, we are ready to provide the option of “gold/copper/bronze on ivory”.
Dimensions – height 1490mm, width approximately 1500mm, thickness when folded approximately 35mm, weight approximately 12kg.
Description
When publishing the A&D World room dividers collection, we noticed the almost complete absence of Art Deco representatives in it. It would seem that Art Nouveau did not turn into Art Deco in an instant; there was a fairly long transition period. However, despite the diversity of forms and decor of this period, we were unable to find a single room divider that reflected the spirit and characteristic features of this particular epoch. This was fully confirmed by all the films we watched related to the 20-30s of the last century: all the folding screens we saw could be attributed to any period – they didn’t have any pronounced and memorable features. In other words, they were boring and inexpressive.
It seems to us that the screen hides a certain secret. By fencing off part of the room, it creates a hidden from prying eyes, but at the same time very attractive in its mystery space. Perhaps in the Art Deco epoch the world became a little more pragmatic? And things, first of all, functional? We do not know, but the fact remains: the world does not please us with interesting folding screens in the Art Deco style.
Meanwhile, many of our clients love this style – and not without reason. And we finally decided to please ourselves and the world with a well-thought-out model of the Art Deco Room Divider Folding Screen . We could not find any interesting prototype, we had to give free rein to our imagination. One walk in the spring park, a good conversation, a little wine, a little more time, and the drawings were born – Art Deco Room Divider Folding Screen “Snow Queen” (Snedronningen).
