Apartments are getting smaller, literally and figuratively, as ceilings are getting lower and pressurized. In the era of Art Nouveau or Art Deco, an architect who proposed ceilings less than 3 meters high would have been ostracized. And we have to live with low ceilings. Our children suffer – where are the pillow fights, jumping on beds and playing with balls? – all is strictly forbidden for fear of damaging the chandeliers. The Art Nouveau era coincided in time with the introduction of electric lighting and this allowed artists to come up with fixtures whose plafonds could be directed downward (remember, gas and candle lighting always required flowing air and the direction of the fire upward). The Art Nouveau was replaced by the Art Deco . Artists were so caught up in the novelty of lighting fixtures that they neglected the topic of decorating electric switches, but we at A&D have said our weighty artistic word on this topic as well.
The Art Nouveau or Art Deco lovers of today have a hard time living – Google, badly corrupted by artificial intelligence, offers a dull monotony in response to an attempt to search for a chandelier in Art Deco style. Things are no better with Art Nouveau: In both cases there is nothing that is suitable for modern ceiling heights.
Neither the Art Nouveau nor the Art Deco era knew LED lighting. LED lighting makes it possible to make luminaires thin and not very hot. This, in turn, makes it possible to use materials that were previously inconceivable.
Hundred years passed and we, A&D, came and new products were born – decorative light switches and various luminaires in Art Nouveau and Art Deco style.
By mentioning decorative light switches we can show examples of our work –

Having opened the topic by thinking about low ceilings, we should draw the line with our answer to this problem – we made a super compact and very bright A&D Art Nouveau chandelier lighting based on sketches from the book Art Nouveau Ornament, Paris .

This example shows that an idea for a luminaire shape can be born at any time and can be triggered by any picture. And this means that if you have an idea in your head, you can tell it to us and we, A&D, will help you to realize it.
A&D are not indifferent to nymphs. The most feminine of them are naiads and dryads. Their images are embodied in specific products, Dryad and Naiad in Art Nouveau style–

We are very fond of folding screens. With a great love for the Art Nouveau epoque and appreciation for this style, we have put together the A&D World room dividers collection. The Art Nouveau era did not yet allow artists to combine Room Divider Folding Screen and light fixtures. But the era of LED lighting made it possible and here is the result, A&D Art Nouveau wall sconce

The slight heating from LEDs allows new materials to be used for electric cartridge covers. For example, textile or leather as a cover for an electric lampholder instead of the ugly plastic –

Or a unique lighted curtain rod holder – no one, nowhere and never has done anything like it before, A&D Art Nouveau curtain rod holder #9 as plug in wall sconce, sketched by Alphonse Mucha -.

Let’s move on to the topic of lamps and chandeliers in Art Deco style. A unique inlay with illumination, when a lovely woman clearly outlined with a few strokes looks completely different in daylight and evening light, embodied in A&D Art Deco wall lamp – is a unique inlay with illumination.

This example of an Art Deco lamp comes in several versions – A&D Art Deco floor lamp, floor lamp and A&D Art Deco wall lamp. But we also have an Art Deco chandelier – in the process of creating A&D Art Deco Room Divider Folding Screen “Snedronningen” (Snow Queen) we had an idea for an A&D Art Deco chandelier, the birth of which is the subject of this post –
