In our store you can buy the book Carpinteria Artística. Andres Audet y Puia, Barcelona, 1900, 183 pages, 15mb. This beautiful book was published in Spain, which already looks strange to the uninitiated reader. We usually associate Art Nouveau and the whole Belle Epoque period mainly with France, but this is not quite true. France, of course, is extremely rich in works of art and everyday objects in this style, and perhaps most of the most famous artists and designers of this era created in France and published books on Art Nouveau there (for example, Art Nouveau Ornament, Paris, or Combinaisons Ornamentales, Alfons Maria Mucha, M.M.P. Verneuil-G.Auriol, Paris, 60 pages, which can also be bought in our store), but nevertheless this book was published in Spain. Such books were published as an annual almanac of sketches. We managed to find an edition of one year. And we put it up for sale at a very favorable price.
Carpinteria Artística is not just interesting – this book is extremely useful also in the modern context. Modernity has been spoiled by Google, Scandinavian design and Iphone shapes – everything has become flat, colorless and angular. Going beyond these stereotypes of Scandinavian design, elevated to the cult of Ikea, is hard enough. We, A&D, are almost omnipotent and we can. Having critically examined the proposed design solutions, we rejected the washbasin (p. 91) – we agree that it is purely Parisian (read wiki) to have one toilet for several floors in an apartment building (a widespread phenomenon, for example, in houses in the ninth arrondissement).

Our level of aesthetics and idea of comfort has outgrown the room washbasin, it’s just not comfortable. But our growing son needs a bar so that he knows how to properly perceive alcohol and it would not even occur to him to dance at a disco with a can of beer or a cardboard glass. And the room – and we do not live in a palace, there, you see, there are problems with heating and air conditioning – must be visually separated by a partition. And we need a large closet in the room, and with ventilation, otherwise the skeletons will be stuffy in it. And a place for books, and lots of light, and a big table. How big? – Well, three meters long would be enough. I don’t think it’s less than that. We liked the idea of the partition from Carpinteria Artística. We came up with the idea of a wardrobe and a bar. The influence of good literature on modernity is obvious, see for yourself –
