Large frame for tapestry and embroidery for independent women – no man required (at least for assembly)

We’ll talk about the super frame a little later. Many people like to decorate the walls of their rooms with framed tapestry or cross stitch… But only a few make tapestries with their own hands and only a select few are so lucky that they will have the opportunity to work for their own pleasure, and for this you need not only an idea and a glass of good wine –

but also a good tool, in this case a weaving loom, large and versatile –

Let’s agree that finished tapestry requires a worthy framing. Usually, they buy a regular frame and insert their tapestry or cross stitch into it. However, this does raise a number of problems that are typical for tapestry and cross stitch:

  • mounting method – both the tapestry and the cross stitch, when removed from the loom or hoop, are textile fabrics that cannot be simply inserted into the frame and forgotten, they need to be stretched
  • crooked geometry – frames are usually rectangular, and the manufactured textile fabrics usually have uneven borders. Frames usually have a very small fold for inserting the fabric, within 10 mm. And the curvature of the edges of a tapestry or cross stitch can be much greater, especially in the works of novice craftsmen or vice versa, in the case of antique items
  • time – it does not spare not only Egyptian pyramids, but also frames – even those made strictly according to tradition, with a connection of 45%, and those dry out over the years and large and unsightly cracks appear
  • often a man’s help is required – to assemble the frame, to make a passe-partout, to fix the embroidery or tapestry… and a million more “to” feel your dependence on the stronger (as it seems to him) sex

In order to solve these problems in a comprehensive manner, we created our own original A&D design –

  • for fixing a tapestry or any other textile along each side of the frame there are special teeth
  • In order for the uneven edges of the tapestry or any other textile to be covered by the frame, we have provided a 26mm wide fold (instead of the usual 8-10mm)
  • In order to hide the thread that holds the tapestry, we have provided a fold on both sides of the frame
  • In order for the frame to be universal, we have provided for the production of each copy strictly according to the dimensions specified by the client. From small to huge, up to 1960 mm in length, which with a frame binding width of 55 mm means the maximum clearance size for a tapestry of 1850 * 1850 mm
  • to prevent the frame from drying out over time, we can provide a special form of connection with a specially made wooden elastic element, a kind of spring
  • in other words, we have created a structure that does not require a man to assemble, but only a drop of glue and a brush. All that needs to be done is to grease it with glue and place a spring on top and gently hit it with a hammer several times, and then wipe off the excess glue –

To stretch the tapestry, a large number of small teeth are provided –

The materials used to make the frame can be different. These are –

  • premium grade birch plywood 9mm thick – the frame can be painted in any color with any paint or can be tinted in different colors, showing a beautiful wood pattern. In this case, the maximum dimensions of the tapestry are approximately 1400 * 1400 mm.
  • solid oak (as in the photo) or beech 20mm thick – beech can be painted or tinted, oak can be simply oiled with wood oil to highlight the beautiful wood grain. In this case, the maximum dimensions are approximately 1900*1900mm.
