Let’s agree: chairs and armchairs are needed, first of all, to sit comfortably on them. They are prohibited from wobbling and creaking. But, having bought antique furniture, we are very likely to encounter these problems. Voracious wood-boring beetles and falling apart wood glue know their business very well and restoration does not always help. But here we, A&D, come and give the world a ray of hope – yes, now connoisseurs of the era can order a chair in the Art Nouveau style, and it will be a new chair with clean karma. And you can order exactly as many chairs as you need and they will be paired, identical and with the right upholstery.
Jokes aside, the problem really does exist. Very often it is impossible to buy the required number of chairs in the Art Nouveau style, for example, for the dining room. You can stick Art Nouveau wallpaper on the walls, hang curtains made of fabric in the style of the epoch, but this will not create an interior in the Art Nouveau style. Furniture is also required. And we make it. It all started as usual – we ourselves needed chairs. We couldn’t buy them and so we had to make them ourselves. Suddenly they turned out very good and quite durable – the chairs have been in every day use for 5 years and not a single one has started to creak. Ikea can’t do that 😉
Identical chairs with different upholstery were made – for different rooms. Can we come up with another model? Yes, we can, but so far there has been no such need. But if we find interesting prototypes, we will be happy to make something new.
A little later, an armchair was invented based on the example that is presented in the Orsay Museum in Paris. The museum chair is actually uncomfortable from an ergonomic point of view: the wrong angle of the backrest, narrow armrests… And, in the end, it stands in a museum, and not in your home opposite the TV. We have made a new Art Nouveau chair with a well-ventilated backrest, soft enough and with armrests reminiscent of a woman’s shoe heel, and with a support in the form of a champagne glass, A&D Champagne chair with Art Nouveau style heel:
What awaits us ahead? We need a sofa. Youalso need a sofa, we are sure! Therefore, we will inevitably come up with a new sofa in the best traditions of our favorite Belle Epoque, but incomparably more comfortable and – from the shape to finishing – exactly what we need.
